Thanksgiving in Montreal, inkober and consumer hell
After having such fun in the September Strava Easel challenge I decided to try my hand at inktober. This was a different challenge for sure. Looking for something to paint from nature wherever I happened to be was certainly easier than drawing something according to a specific concept. That said I embraced the challenge and drew/painted for 31 more days. I played a little more with mediums. If you want the detailed strokes about each of these, check out my instagram or Facebook account.

Sue and I also went to visit our daughter in Montreal for Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful visit which included going to visit my Alma mater, visiting the site of Expo 67, and going to visit high school buddy and fellow artist Jay Neeson in Saint Anne de Bellevue among other adventures. While in St Anne I Jay and I had a creative morning on the shores of the Saint Lawrence River. He worked in a soapstone carving and I painted a the river scene in front of us. I parted with “Mirkwood” and Jay gave me a piece of soapstone to consider carving. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect as we hadn’t seen each other since high school 50 years ago!

Visit with Jay!
Finally I apologize for the significant delay on this issue. November has been a descent into consumer hell! I will fill you in in the next issue!
Exhibitions
After participating in 6 exhibitions this year, things are going to be quiet for the rest of the year. Looking forward to seeing what 2026 will bring.
Major Works
I managed to get a little bit of work on the garage door before the end of the outdoor painting season. Here is what it looks like until spring will allow me to work on it some more.

Growing in 2025
I continue to work on colour mixing https://www.breakthroughcolour.com/ has been particularly useful as I explore the use of the CMYK colour scheme, only using Primary magenta, cyan and yellow along with titanium white and zinc white. Here are some of the paintings I have done using this scheme this year.

See you in November!
